A 5-Level Immersion into the Mind, Nervous System & Subtle Body

The Psychology of Yoga is a transformational 5-Level workshop series designed to explore the deeper layers of yoga beyond movement alone. Blending yogic philosophy, subtle body theory, nervous system regulation, breath-work, meditation, energetics, and modern psychological understanding, this immersive program invites students and teachers into a profound exploration of self-awareness and embodied living.
Each level is offered as an individual 3-hour live workshop hosted at Playa Negra Yoga in Costa Rica with Zoom access available worldwide.
Attend one workshop or journey through all five levels as a complete immersion.
All sessions are recorded for later viewing and include printable PDF manuals, guided practices, reflective exercises, and integration resources.
This training is open to all students, wellness practitioners, and yoga teachers.
Certified Yoga Teachers may request a Certificate of Completion eligible for Continuing Education credits through the International Yoga Alliance.

LEVEL I: Foundations of the Yogic Mind
Awareness, Conditioning & The Inner Observer
Explore the foundational psychology of yoga through the lens of awareness, thought patterns, conditioning, and consciousness. Learn how yoga views the mind, suffering, emotional reactivity, and personal transformation.
Topics Include:
• The koshas and layers of self
• Samskaras, conditioning, and subconscious patterning
• The fluctuations of the mind (Chitta Vritti)
• Awareness practices and witnessing consciousness
• Nervous system regulation through breath and mindfulness
• Guided meditation and reflective inquiry
LEVEL II: The Nervous System & Emotional Regulation
Yoga as a Practice of Inner Safety
Discover how yoga practices support emotional balance, resilience, and nervous system healing. This workshop bridges ancient yogic tools with modern understanding of stress, trauma, and regulation.
Topics Include:
• Sympathetic vs. parasympathetic nervous system
• Breathwork for regulation and grounding
• Emotional processing through movement and stillness
• Trauma-aware language and practice
• Yin Yoga, vagal tone, and restoration
• Creating safety within the body

LEVEL III: The Subtle Body & Energetics
Chakras, Nadis & Energetic Awareness
Journey into the energetic body and explore how prana influences emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Learn practices to cultivate balance, vitality, and energetic awareness.
Topics Include:
• The chakra system and psychological associations
• Nadis, prana, and energetic flow
• Emotional holding patterns in the body
• Sound, mantra, and energetic resonance
• Breath practices for energetic balance
• Meditation for subtle body awareness
LEVEL IV: Shadow Work, Dharma & Self-Study
The Inner Journey of Transformation
Explore the deeper inner work of yoga through self-inquiry, shadow awareness, values, and purpose. Learn how yoga supports authentic living and personal evolution.
Topics Include:
• Svadhyaya (self-study) and reflective practice
• Shadow patterns and emotional avoidance
• Dharma, purpose, and aligned living
• The Yamas & Niyamas as psychological tools
• Journaling, inquiry, and mindfulness practices
• Integration and embodiment work
LEVEL V: The Psychology of Sound & Vibration
AUM, Mantra, Chanting & Sound Healing
The final immersion explores the ancient relationship between sound, consciousness, energy, and healing. Journey through the origins of sacred sound practices within yoga while discovering how vibration influences the nervous system, emotional wellbeing, and meditative states.
This workshop blends philosophy, experiential practice, chanting, breath, mantra, and sound immersion to help students understand the transformative power of sound beyond music alone.
Topics Include:
• The origins and meaning of AUM
• Nada Yoga — the Yoga of Sound
• The psychology and energetics of mantra
• Chanting practices and vibrational resonance
• Sound and the nervous system
• Voice, breath, and emotional expression
• Introduction to singing bowls and sound healing instruments
• Meditation through sound and frequency
• Creating intentional sound experiences in practice and teaching
Students will experience guided mantra, breath practices, meditation, sound immersion, and reflective inquiry while learning the historical and energetic foundations of sacred sound within yogic traditions.
